SHINE Humanity [SH]  began its fourth phase of its post- earthquake and tsunami  relief efforts in Japan in collaboration with Youth for 3.11 [Yf311] and Kokoro Wellness Network [KWN] on April 27,2012. Through this project  SH will collaborate with Yf311  and it’s graduate and undergraduate student volunteers to deliver  much- needed services to victims of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated parts of Japan in March 2011. KWN will collaborate to provide  mental health issues orientation for volunteer students of Youth for 3.11  who are serving  in the project  areas  as well as provide assistance for the student volunteers.

So far 23 student volunteers have been engaged in rice planting in the rice fileds in Minami-Sanriku, Miyagi, as well as  providing academic support for elementary students, running an after-school community for children at temporal houses, sorting out the in-kind donations and emergency supplies and delivering them to schools in Ishinomaki. SHINE Humanity will continue to support the student volunteers for four months  with funds that were raised for  the Japanese disaster of March 2011.

SHINE Humanity would like to thank all its donors who contributed for the Japan Relief Fund making it possible for us to help serve  in the relief and rehabilitation phases.
